U2030 Art Installation Honoring Jacobi Jones Shines in TurnAround’s New Jacobi Center

BALTIMORE, MD — October 2025 — In a moving tribute to courage, healing, and hope, participants of the Utility 2030 Leadership Collaborative’s (U2030’s) RADIATE Women’s Leadership Program have completed a large-scale art installation now on display at TurnAround’s Jacobi Center in Dundalk, Maryland.

The installation — coordinated by Art with a Heart and created during U2030’s BGE Site Visit, a highlight of the 2024–2025 RADIATE class — winds through the newly opened domestic violence resource center. Beginning in the lobby and flowing through hallways into the recreation and children’s playroom, the artwork tells a story of light emerging from darkness.

“It is truly stunning,” said Erin Liffiton, Director of Community Art and Service for Art with a Heart. “The installation begins in the lobby, continues down the hall past their kitchen, around the corner into the rec room, and finishes with a grand finale of butterflies in the children’s playroom. The playroom also includes one pterodactyl that represents Jacobi flying amongst the butterflies.”

Honoring a Life & Inspiring Hope

The Jacobi Center is named in honor of four-year-old Jacobi Jones, whose life was tragically taken on Christmas Eve 2024 in a domestic violence incident in Baltimore County. His mother, Promyss Marcelle, survived the attack and continues to work alongside TurnAround to bring awareness, healing, and support to families escaping abuse.

“Jacobi loved dinosaurs,” shared TurnAround CEO Amanda Rodriguez. “We wanted this space to reflect his joy and imagination while providing safety, dignity, and hope to others who come here seeking refuge.” Dinosaurs and butterflies — symbols of transformation and resilience — now fill the center, helping children find comfort and courage in the midst of trauma.

Art, Leadership & Healing Through Connection

For the women of RADIATE, the opportunity to create this installation was deeply personal. “At U2030, we believe true leadership begins with giving back,” said Vanessa Edmonds, CEO of Utility 2030 Leadership Collaborative. “The RADIATE participants poured their hearts into this project — not just as artists, but as leaders standing in solidarity with survivors. Every brushstroke and butterfly represents the strength it takes to rebuild, to rise, and to lead with compassion.”

A Safe Haven for Families in Crisis

The Jacobi Center is one of three new community outreach centers opened by TurnAround in October in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Each center provides emergency intervention, therapy, and legal counseling, along with practical supports such as meals, laundry, and showers for families in need.

TurnAround’s centers can safely share their locations and connect victims directly to resources without delay. The organization’s 24/7 crisis lines offer immediate assistance and compassionate care for those in danger.
