August 22, 2024—Nashville, TN—The Utility 2030 Collaborative (U2030) is grateful to announce its partnership with Milepost, sponsor of the U2030 Annual SPARK Meeting service project with Habitat for Humanity. This collaboration aims to help Habitat for Humanity prepare its Wilson County ReStore location for reopening.
ReStore Expansion and Leadership
After being closed for nearly four years, the Wilson County ReStore is simultaneously reopening and expanding from 3,000 to 30,000 square feet under Jennifer Keaton's leadership. She is the Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville ReStore. The expanded retailer will offer a wide range of new and lightly used products, from home-building materials to furnishings, lighting, appliances, and paint.
Supporting Affordable Homeownership
ReStores support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of affordable homeownership, with proceeds funding homes for individuals and families. Over the past three decades, Habitat for Humanity has built 94 homes in Wilson County alone.
Commitment to Community Engagement
U2030 aims to deepen its understanding of local needs and foster meaningful connections with the people its utility members serve by supporting community service projects in the cities where it hosts events. Milepost also values community engagement. As a certified B Corporation and Social Purpose Corporation (SPC), Milepost provides strategy consulting in the energy space, designing programs and forging alliances that mobilize people for social and environmental benefits.
"Milepost's focus on people makes them the ideal sponsor for this project," says Vanessa Edmonds, Executive Director of U2030. "When we first met, it was obvious that we shared values about caring for people and serving our communities. Partnering with them on this project is very exciting."
"We're thrilled U2030 is hosting its annual SPARK meeting in Nashville," says Samatha Hart, CEO of Milepost. Many members of my team call this city home, and this project provides a great opportunity to make a tangible difference in our community."
Project Details
The project will occur on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at 200 Granville Drive, Lebanon, TN. U2030 will provide transportation to the ReStore and back to The Thompson Hotel, SPARK's venue, where a welcome cocktail reception will start at 6:00 PM.
