May 7, 2024 – Atlanta, GA – The Utility 2030 Collaborative (U2030) is excited to announce that Dwight Scruggs, a former Army captain with tremendous success in the utility industry and comedy circles, will take center stage at the Design Thinking Masterclass: U2030 Think-a-Thon. The masterclass is on May 14-15, 2024, at Georgia Power’s downtown Atlanta, GA headquarters. As the presenter for the highly anticipated awards ceremony, Dwight, who also serves as a vice president for Cinch Home Services and a valued member of U2030, will add his unique charm to the event.
During this masterclass, participants will immerse themselves in the principles of Design Thinking to tackle the challenge of breaking down silos contributing to the energy and water capacity dilemma. Design Thinking focuses on understanding the needs and perspectives of end-users and empowers problem-solving through empathy, ideation, prototyping, and testing.
Through a series of activities led by Oracle’s Theresa Barry, including one practice sprint and two real solutioning sprints, attendees will collaborate to generate innovative solutions. After silent voting, finalists will emerge, leading to small group radar graph activity that will uncover the winning ideas.
Dwight’s announcement of the U2030 Think-a-Thon winner will undoubtedly be a highlight of the event, with his trademark wit and humor adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Thinking about the opportunity, Scruggs remarked, “U2030 has proven that it’s possible to have fun while solving critical utility industry issues. I’m excited to carry on this legacy during the awards ceremony at the U2030 Think-a-Thon.”
